Smithtown dentist becomes the first and only in New York to offer new dental procedure!
(Smithtown, New York February 10, 2009)
The past two decades have been exciting in the field of Cosmetic Dentistry. Advances have been made that have given real hope to people who always wished their smile was more attractive. The general public has also become more educated and aware of the possibilities available in today’s dentistry through shows like Extreme Makeover. As a result, more and more people are looking to change their smiles through the use of porcelain veneers. However, certain concerns have stopped a lot of people from obtaining the smile they desire. That’s because traditionally, veneers have required the removal of natural tooth structure prior to restoring the smile. For that reason, many people have resisted the option of changing their smile.
Dr. David E. Parker, of Parker Dental Associates, located at 319 Middle Country Road, Smithtown, recently completed a course with Dr. Dennis Wells, the founder of DuraTHIN veneers. He is the first and only dentist in the New York area certified at the Nashville Center for Aesthetic Dentistry to perform the DuraTHIN procedure. The DuraTHIN procedure is reversible, since the natural teeth are left undisturbed underneath the porcelain veneers. The treatment is done with very little discomfort to the patient. In fact, in most cases, the procedure can be done without any numbing! Each DuraTHIN veneer is custom-designed to specific contours and shades and the extremely thin layer of porcelain is then bonded on top of the natural tooth.
Not all people are candidates for prepless veneers, but they do offer a new exciting alternative to many. The best candidates for DuraTHIN veneers are those that have worn down their natural tooth structure, people who have small teeth, patients who had teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons when they were young, or someone whose teeth simply need more presence.
