Patient Services ~ Veneers/Crowns

The most natural restoration we have in dentistry is the Porcelain Laminate Veneers. Dr. Parker uses only the highest quality porcelains (Authentic and Empress) and the most respected laboratory in the country (Smile Designs by Rego, Downey California) to ensure that the investment you make in your smile will give you the smile of your dreams, last a long time, and give you the ultimate in form and function.

Here are some tips for making sure your veneers stay sparkling!
BRUSH AND FLOSS REGULARLY TO PREVENT ORAL HYGIENE PROBLEMS.
Veneers generally can not be damaged by abrasion from your toothbrush or floss.
Good oral hygiene will ensure your veneers stay strong and provide you with a long-lasting, attractive smile.

When considering veneers, there are some important points to consider before undergoing the treatment.

  • Non-reversible Procedure
Because a small amount of tooth is reduced to fit the veneers, the process is NOT reversible.
  • Anesthetic Advised
Generally, the use of a local anesthetic is advised to maintain absolute comfort throughout the treatment process.
  • Strength of Veneers
Veneers provide more strength when crushing an object than twisting or tearing. Therefore, just as with natural teeth, patients with veneers are advised to avoid opening nut shells, chewing on bones, or any other matter that may cause the veneers to chip or crack.

Porcelain Crowns

When a tooth is severely broken down due to decay, multiple fillings, fractures, or wear due to a poor bite, a crown may be recommended to restore the tooth to its original form, function, and beauty.

Sometimes crowns are used in the anterior "front" part of your mouth in place of veneers when too much tooth structure has been lost and porcelain veneers are not indicated.

The old type of crowns had a metal substructure. These crowns never had the vibrance and color (chroma and value) that we can achieve with our modern porcelains. No more "black lines" around the gum line with the state of the art porcelains we use. Colors are communicated to the laboratory using digital photography as well as the use of multiple shading techniques.

We exclusively provide porcelain bonded restorations. When inserted, these bonded porcelain restorations are as strong or stronger than the porcelain covered metal crowns. Your porcelain crown looks exactly, if not better, than your natural teeth.

Today's crowns are all porcelain. This gives us the opportunity to create natural lifelike restorations that are as vibrant and beautiful as natural teeth.
